Additional race category added for both Sprint & Long Distance Aquathlon: Senior Men Veteran for those aged 50 yrs old & above and Men Veteran for 40-49yrs old.

RACE DAY GUIDELINES


Arrive at least 1.5 hours before your check-in time to allow more time to prepare yourself for the race. Familarise yourself with course route and site layout!

Step 1 - Registration

Report at the On-Site Registration Tent with the confirmation email to collect your Goodie Bag, Event T-shirt & Race Kit that contains your race essential items like the ChampionChip, Swim Cap, Race Bib, Wrist Tag. Check your Race Start Time, to ensure that you start with the right wave.


Step 2 – Put on your wrist tag

Wrist tag must be worn for access to the Transition Area. Please DO NOT remove the Security Tags.

Step 3– Proceed to leave your race equipment and belongings at the Transition Area. You will have an assigned space marked by your Race Number.

Step 4 – Secure your Championchip

ChampionChip must be tightly secured to your left ankle. Athletes who fail to wear the ChampionChip during the proceeding of the race will not have their time recorded and will be disqualified.

NOTE: ChampionChip has to be returned after the race. A penalty of $40.00 will be imposed for athletes who do not return their ChampionChip.

Step 5 – Proceed to the Swim Start Area 15 minutes before your start time if you have done all of the above to get ready for your race! Remember to relax and enjoy the race!

PARTICIPANT’S ENTITLEMENTS
• Race Kit that contains an Event Handbook, Race Bib and a Swim cap. (All race kit are to be collected during on-site registration
on 3 Sep 2005 at Siloso Beach Sentosa)
• A loaned ChampionChip for an accurate timing.
• Finisher Medal for every finisher.
• Finisher’s Race Certificate.
• Event T-shirt.
• Goodie bags (Only first 800 participants will be entitled)
 
TRANSPORT
- Participants who drive are advised to park their vehicles at public carparks in the vicinity of Habourfront Centre and take the transfer services provided at the Harbourfront Bus Terminal or at the bus-stop just before entering Sentosa Gateway.
- Participants will arrive at the Visitor Arrival Centre where they are required to purchase Admission & Sentosa Shuttle bus ticket and board the BLUE bus line shuttle service to Underwater World. Upon alighting at Underwater World, walk towards Siloso Beach.
- For participants who drive, other carparks available for parking within Sentosa are as follows: Gateway Carpark, Dolphin Lagoon Carpark or New carpark between Palawan & Siloso Beach (charges for this new carpark: $1 per entry).
 
MEDICAL ADVISORY
- Participants are advised against the consumption of alcohol or stimulants or any kind of drugs within 24 hours of their race.
- Participants are to ensure that they are well-rested and well-hydrated on race day.
- Participants are advised to dress lightly.
- Should any participant feel unwell in the course of race, he/she should stop and seek medical attention at designated medical posts.
 
TRAINING
Fortnight Training Session
Worried about your first aquathlon or looking for a group to train with? The training session will get you ready.

Coaches will be on hand to guide you and provide the valuable answers to your concerns. A nominal fee of $3(TAS member) or $5(Public) will be charged to cover refreshment/materials provided. Fee does not include entry fee into Sentosa.

IF YOU ARE NOT PARTICIPATING... GET INVOLVED! BE A TAS VOLUNTEER TODAY.
You don't have to be a biathlete/triathlete to participate in aquathlon races! If you are not taking part in this race and would like to support the aquathlon/triathlon community (who may include your friends & family members) or simply want to be part of a fun sporting event and catch all the thrills and spills first-hand, here is your chance to do so! RULES & REGULATIONS
Please read carefully through the Rules & Regulations below before you register for any of the races in the New Balance Aquathlon Challenge 2005. You must accept the conditions in order to register for the event. Participants under 21 on race day must seek parental/guardian’s consent to register for the event.
GENERAL
- Completion of the online form evidences the Participants’ agreement to abide by the relevant rules and regulations of TAS. These rules apply at the material time and to all and any ruling of the Organisers, TAS and Singapore Sports Council (SSC).
- Whilst every reasonable precaution will be taken by the Organisers to ensure the participant’s safety, participants partake in this event at their own risk and the Organisers shall not be liable for any loss and/or damage to any property or any bodily injuries, whether personal or otherwise, and howsoever arising.
- Once the registration form has been duly processed, there will be NO fee refund if the Event is cancelled for whatever reason. All fee refunds will only be considered on a special case-by-case basis, at the discretion of the Organising Committee. All requests for fee refund have to be made in formal writing to the Race Organisers.
- The Organisers reserve the right to use any photographs, motion picture, recordings, or any other record of this race and its participants for any legitimate purpose, including commercial advertising.
- The Organisers reserve the right to limit or refuse entries.
- Participants are advised to report at the On-Site Registration Booth at least 90 minutes prior to your Flag-Off time.
- On-site reporting and body-marking will start at least an hour before the commencement of the race. All participants shall be ready 15 minutes prior to the start of the Run.
- A grace period of 15 minutes after the commencement of the race will be given for latecomers. Anyone who reports later than this grace period will not be allowed to participate in the race. Latecomers should be aware that their timings would have commenced when the race begins.
- A participant who protests against another competitor or notifies of violation by a contestant must do so in writing to the Organisers within 30 minutes of his/her finish time. A deposit of S$50 must accompany the appropriate protest and will be refunded if the protest is successful.
- The Organisers reserve the right to remove any participant deemed physically incapable (i.e. severe physical harm) of continuing the race.
- The Organisers reserve the right to amend the rules and regulations without prior notification.
- Please note that there will be no storage facilities available at the event.
- Participants racing in the Adult Individual & Relay category for both the Sprint or Long Distance must be 15 years and above on race day to compete in the race.
- Participants racing in the Kids category must be 7 years and above on the race day to compete in the race.
- Race category is non-interchangeable.
- Relay disciplines are non-transferable among the team members.
- Relay team must have 2 members, one for each discipline
- As the ChampionChip is a loaned item, all participants are responsible to return the issued chip to the race organisers immediately after the race. A S$40 penalty applies for any loss of chip.
- The ChampionChip is the sole means of race timing measurement… NO CHIP NO TIME.
- No transition time will be provided to all participants. Only the following timings will be provided:
Swim Time <The difference between Swim Gun Start Time and time detected at Swim End>
Run Time <The difference between the time detected at Swim End and Finish Point. This is inclusive of the transition time from Swim-to-Run>.
Total Completion Time <The difference Swim Gun Start Time and time detected at Finish Point>
 
SWIMMING
- Swimsuits must be worn.
- The Championchip must be securely strapped to the left ankles of all swimmers before the race.
- All swimmers must wear the swim caps provided by the Organisers.
- Swim goggles may be worn.
- Fins, paddles, pool buoys, snorkels or any other swimming aids are not allowed.
- Wet suits & support crews are not allowed.
- Any assistance, other than medical aid, received during the swim will result in immediate disqualification.
- No one other than the participants and officials are permitted in the swimming area.
- Swimmers in difficulty shall signal to the escorting boats/canoes for assistance.
-The swimming course will be closed 30 minutes for the Kids/Sprint category or 50 minutes for the Long Distance category after
the start of the race. Contestants still in the water after this will be withdrawn and not be allowed to continue in the race.
 
RUNNING
- All runners in relay teams must ensure that their ChampionChips are securely strapped to their left ankles before running.
- Runners must wear their race numbers at all times.
- Support vehicles or pacers are not allowed.
- Runners must run on the designated path for the entire route. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.
- No running with bare torso.
 
INCLEMENT WEATHER
- In the event of inclement weather, the Organisers reserve the right to delay the commencement of the race.
- Should the inclement weather persist after delay, the Organisers reserve the right to cancel the race without
any refund of registration fees already paid.
