Introduction

Like other competitions that are labour-intensive to organise, triathlon is a sport that needs a large number of volunteers during races. As TAS Management Committee comprises of fewer that 10 members, the association relies heavily on volunteers to assist in pre-registration, swim safety, body-marking, lap recording, timekeeping, managing the water-points, etc.

Sources of Volunteers

Depending on the complexity of the competition and the race course, the number of helpers requires can range from 150 to 300. Volunteers may come from many sources including relatives and friends of the Management Committee, students from secondary schools, junior colleges or polytechnics, parents of NTS triathletes, members of TAS and also organisations such as NOKIA Helping Hands, Deutsche Bank, etc.

TAS Volunteers

Most TAS volunteers are unknown. They work in the shadow to make the race as beautiful and successful as possible. They wake up early and go to sleep late, no matter how tired they are. They have promised and they give all. Be it rain or shine, they are there and don't hesitate to help out. They are at the drink stations, they set up the race course for triathletes, the transition area and welcome spectators and the triathletes. They prepare all the details of organisation weeks before the race.

They come from all walks of life. From students to professionals like engineers, accountants and doctors to production assistants and even fellow sportsperson. All with one common interest in multi-sport racing and the camaraderie, the fun and most of all, the sense of achievement by all that is involved.

Therefore, we encourage and welcome members of the public who are keen, to become a volunteer with TAS.
